Francis was born in 1995 and is from the Lerata area. He studied at Kalama preschool in 2002 and then joined Lerata Primary School in 2003. He is the fourth born in a family of four. His father studied up to class seven while his mother never went to school. His father is very committed to education and all of Francis’s siblings have gone to school except one who was asked to stay at home and herd their livestock. The family own 2 cows, 10 goats and 2 donkeys. Most of their livestock died in August 2009. His father has a local government job but he earns less than 100 dollars a month and he cannot afford to send Francis to high school. Francis has always been a committed and motivated student. He graduated at the top of his class in 20010 with 328 marks. Francis likes singing and has always led the school in school songs. He is excellent at volleyball.
